  • Dance is a profound exploration of the intricate chemistry of human emotions, connections, and interactions. Just as molecules collide and react to create something new, my movements are an expression of the transformative power of these encounters. This connection to chemistry is not just metaphorical; it reflects my fascination with the natural world and the ways in which small interactions can lead to significant change.

Inspired by the natural rhythms of life, from atomic thermal motions to the to the emotional waves we ride, I fuse classical and contemporary dance forms to create dances that resonate deeply on a visceral level. Dance is the form I use to find, understand, and celebrate the essence of being human.

Importantly, collaboration is at the heart my creative process. I believe that dance, much like the chemical reactions that power life, thrive on the energy and perspectives of others. Working with fellow dancers, musicians, designers, engineers, and artists, allows my work to push the boundaries of artistry to discover and live in new dimensions of expression.

My goal is to inspire curiosity and wonder, evoking a sense of unity and shared human experience. Through my ever-evolving journey as an artist, I aim to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level, reminding them of the beauty and complexity inherent in both dance and life itself.

  • Choreographically, I hold an interest in combining the realms of technology and dance, exploring the kinesthetic impulses of worn textiles and costuming, and using the body and its movements to communicate human connection and experience. Recently, I’ve developed a desire to combine my backgrounds of macromolecular science and dance.

I aim to highlight athleticism and technical complexities within my choreography, favoring movements that paint the performance space and encourage interactions between the dancers. I love challenging myself and my dancers with physicality, musical intricacy, and performance dexterity.

In my creative process, I take an active part in the creation of new work, often heavily participating in the lighting design, costume design, costume construction, projection and video design, sound design, and choreographic processes.

  • My path into the realm of teaching solidified itself in front of me ever since I was young. I carry with me a passion: a drive to assist others in growing and developing to their own fullest potential - in whatever capacity they seek. Through my various experiences as a student, an engineer, a designer, an advisor, a choreographer, a performer, and as a leader, I have affirmed that my calling in life leads me into academia - to teach.

As a younger adult engaged in higher levels of learning, I understand that my role as a teacher is still malleable and ever-changing. My growth into the teaching role has only begun. I acknowledge that throughout my education, I placed myself into roles that allowed me to interact on a personal level with other individuals, regardless of age, and assist them in their own journey’s. Life has called me to serve others on a developmental level.

I have come to realize that teaching is a two-way street full of active learning, effective communication, true candor, and unlimited curiosity. It is the teacher’s role to support active engagement, to create open and safe spaces for self-expression, to provide challenges that invoke critical thinking and problem-solving, to work with material through a wide array of learning styles and delivery methods, to inspire students to push beyond their perceived boundaries, and most importantly to perpetually learn from others.

Moreover, teaching dance, an intensely personal, spiritual, emotional, and physical art form, requires from both  the teacher and student a willingness to grow, relate, engage, and question. Without the acceptance of new challenges and experiences, student’s will not have the opportunity to utilize their intuition to grow insightful and learn about their own personal journey’s. This is paramount. This is a teacher’s role to open the two-way street and actively push students “upstairs,” forward on their own individual journeys.

I assert that a teacher’s dedication to their students and commitment to traits essential to the vulnerability of learning - honesty, enthusiasm, ambition, inquiry, active reflection - is cardinal. To serve these ideals under the foundation of fostering each student’s development is critical to successful learning upon both the student and the teacher.
